Privacy Policy

DevotionHub is a place for quiet, personal time with the Bible. What you write here, your reflections and prayers, is between you and God. This page explains what we keep, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and, if you use a password, a hashed copy of it. We never see or store your password in readable form.
  • Google sign-in: if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google tells us your name, email address, profile photo and a Google account ID. We don't receive your Google password or access your Google data.
  • Your journey: the course you're on, the lessons you've completed, your streak, and your timezone and email preferences.
  • Your journal: the reflections and prayers you write, including any tags you add.
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser details and session cookies, used to keep you signed in and to protect the site from abuse.

How we use it

  • To run your account and unlock each day's lesson at your local midnight.
  • To show your reflections, prayers and progress back to you.
  • To send the emails you've asked for, such as your daily lesson and password reset codes.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent spam and automated sign-ups.

We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use your reflections or prayers for anything other than showing them to you.

Who can see your reflections and prayers

Your reflections and prayers are private to your account. They are not shared with other students. They are stored in our database, which the people who run DevotionHub can technically access to maintain the service, and we only do so when needed to support you or keep the service working.

Services we rely on

  • Google Sign-In to let you sign in with your Google account.
  • Google reCAPTCHA on sign-in and registration to tell people from bots. It collects hardware and software information and your IP address, which is sent to Google and handled under the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
  • Email delivery through a transactional email provider, which receives your email address and the message content in order to deliver it.
  • Hosting with our web host, where the application and its database run.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a security token that protects forms. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and journal for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, progress, reflections and prayers. Short-lived records such as password reset codes and sessions expire automatically.

Your choices

  • You can update your name, photo, timezone and email preferences in Settings at any time.
  • You can turn off daily emails in Settings.
  • You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or the deletion of your account by emailing us.

Children

DevotionHub is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way we'll update the date above and, where it matters, let you know by email or in the app.
